School children have been learning about how to be safe on the roads on a bicycle.

Year Six pupils at Kirkby-la-Thorpe Primary School were given a course in road safety on their bikes recently after a visit by instructors from Bikeability, a cycling proficiency course designed to give youngsters confidence to ride their bikes on public roads.

Led by four instructors over two days, all 22 pupils involved took part in various activities and tests, including turning into the road, using the Highway Code and signalling. They all completed their Level 1 and Level 2 awards. Pictured are the pupils with Bikeability instructor Mark Cotton. Photo ref: 0488SB-6
