Youngsters from village primary schools near Sleaford got on their bikes earlier this month for a lesson in competitive cycling.

The Sleaford Skyride event was held at Carre’s Grammar School, in Sleaford, and featured children from St Andrew’s CofE Primary School, in Leasingham, Kirkby La Thorpe CofE Primary Academy, and William Alvey CofE School, in Heckington.

The event, sponsored by Sky TV as part of its ongoing backing for UK competitive cycling, was made up of solo rides for boys and girls and then the finale team race.

St Andrew’s headteacher David Hodgson said: “The children raced brilliantly with some excellent winners who have been invited to join Sleaford Wheelers with all participants having a prize of a Sky water bottle and wristband. It was a fabulous afternoon.”
