Children at Sleaford’s Our Lady of Good Counsel RC Primary School have been keeping their promises for Lent by helping others.

Pippa Higdon, the school’s religious education leader, arranged for every class to do something to help the community.

The events included visiting the elderly in a care home, reading and playing with toddlers at two nurseries, litter picking along The Drove, chatting with parishioners at a coffee morning, bag packing at Tesco (Year Five pupils pictured).

Head teacher Sarah Weldon plans to make it an annual event.

She said: “All the children have come back buzzing from the experience and recognising the value of helping others for no personal gain.”
