CHILDREN and staff at Sleaford Methodist pre-school recently joined in the celebrations for the 20th birthday of Bookstart.

Staff from Lincolnshire’s Bookstart, a nationwide campaign to promote book sharing for children came to the pre-school run a day of events with the children, reading stories with them and playing games.

They re-enacted the story of the Three Little Pigs with puppets and made party hats and birthday cards for Bookstart Bear, who made an appearance.

Among the guests there on the day were Coun Patrica Bradwell, Lincolnshire County Council executive member responsible for children’s service, and leader of Sleaford Town Council Coun Brian Watson.

Sue Waller, manager of the pre-school, said: “The children had a lovely time. A good day was had by all and we all enjoyed a buffet as well.”
