Community wildlife grants available

Community groups and parish councils can still apply for funding from the Community Wildlife Grant fund.

The fund, managed by Lincolnshire County Council, assists projects that encourage communities to get involved with nature conservation projects and promote enjoyment of the countryside.

Last year £7,839 was awarded to 24 environmental projects throughout Lincolnshire, one of which was a £225.80 grant to Leasingham and Roxholme Parish Council to buy 60 trees to mark the Diamond Jubilee.

Grants are available for between £50 and £500, up to a maximum of 75 per cent of the total cost.

Applications will be approved at the discretion of the county council’s Environmental Services and will be awarded in two rounds in April and September 2013.

The deadline for applications is April 1.

To find out more, or apply for a grant, contact Matthew Davey, environment and community projects officer on 01522 782070 or you can go online and log on to www. lincolnshire.gov.uk/cwg for more information.
