The Heckington Community Summer Ball will take place at the Heckington Pavilion, in Howell Road, on Saturday, Augst 26, from 7pm until late.

It is being organised by villagers Lynne Chapman and Yvonne Beven who hope to raise about £5,000 from the event.

Proceeds will go towards helping provide adult sports equipment next to the pavilion and revamping the children’s facilities on the adjacent playing fields (pictured).

The evening will include a live band and hog roast, with whole-roasted salmon. There will also be a casino and a raffle, with a barrow of booze being the main prize.

Tickets are priced at £40 per person, which includes drinks on arrival, dinner, and entertainment

The theme is black tie and diamonds.

n The Heckington Playing Field Committee has received approval for a grant of almost £10,000 from the Big Lottery Fund for outdoor sports equipment at the playing fields.

The committee says letters are now being exchanged between the bodies in order to finalise the process.

“It’s just a matter of ticking the right boxes,” said member and Heckington parish councillor Dave Couzens.
