Five Sleaford school friends are to tackle the gruelling Newcastle to London 300-mile Action Challenge cycle event later this month.

Carres Grammar School students Timothy Gutteridge, Conor O’Leary, Maxim Burrows, Michael Browning and Alisdair Campbell will set out on the journey from August 22. They aim to complete the course in just 24 hours.

The teenagers are each taking part for their chosen charities - Parkinson’s UK, the Alzheimer’s Society, the Royal Marines, and two for the Teenage Cancer Trust

The team will head out of Newcastle over the Tyne, past the Angel of the North and on to the Yorkshire Hills, through York and down to cross the Humber to Lincoln before passing through remote villages, finally heading into the busy capital as dawn arises.
