Even the considerable distraction of moving homes has not disrupted the training of two friends who are running together in this year’s London Marathon.

Both Sally Foston, 38, and Amy Leader, 31, have maintained their training schedule even though Sally has just moved from Sleaford to Leasingham, and Amy, of Sleaford, has also recently moved home.

Sally said: “We have been training since August last year, doing one short run and one longer run each week.

“We both lead very busy lives, so we are finding it very tiring, particularly as we have both had the distraction of house moves to contend with.”

It will be the first time that either of them has run a marathon, although Sally has run in 10k events. They will each be raising money for charity, with Sally running in aid of Children with Cancer and Amy for Baby Lifeline.

Sally added: “We are really looking forward to the experience of doing the London Marathon but also very nervous about it.

“Having just completed a 20-mile run we are feeling a little more confident.”

Sally and Amy are hoping to raise around £3,000 between them. They have held various fund raising events, including a table top sale and a New Year’s Eve party.

Their latest fund raising event was a fashion show in Sleaford on Friday at The Source, Riverside Church.

Sally added: “I am especially grateful to St Andrew’s School in Leasingham, where my son goes to school. They raised £270 for us.”
