A forum for over 50s living in the district is looking to recruit ‘fresh blood’ to revive its committee membership.
North Kesteven Seniors was set up in 2009 by North Kesteven District Council to provide a focal point to share information for retired and older people living in the area and a voice for their needs.
Although it has about 400 members on its books, the committee has become depleted and needing fresh input, explained chairman Liz Peto.
She said: “We want to resurrect it and get some fresh blood in, particularly a few younger people who have interests to share with other people of the same age.”
The organisation is entirely self-supporting and Mrs Peto felt there was still a need for it.
She said: “Our newsletter deals with threats such as scams, health issues, what is going on politically, what is happening in your area and some light-hearted items too. We have had some successful days out too.”
North Kesteven Seniors is also useful for carers, who are often older too.
These people are urged to come forward to enjoy more outside social contact with people in similar circumstances.
Anyone interested in joining should go along to the re-launch event on Thursday November 20 at St Denys’ Church Hall, Market Place, Sleaford from 2-4pm.
