Organisers of the Caythorpe and District Garden Society Annual Open Show have declared the 2014 outing a success.
The event, which this year was being held for the 19th time, was held on Saturday at Caythorpe Village Hall.
There were 98 classes this year and overall entry numbers were up, giving visitor a wide-ranging display which included cut flowers, potted plants and vegetables, along with floral art, handicraft, baking and photography sections.
Chairman Gary Greenhalgh said: “All were to a very high standard. We must thank all the judges who had a very difficult task selecting the winners from such wonderful entries.
“Every year we are amazed by the quality of the entries, despite the often challenging weather conditions leading up to the show.
“While this year’s hot and sunny weather made for a great summer our plants fruited and matured early this year, making the entrants standard of displays all the more amazing.
“There were many local visitors to the show on Saturday afternoon who enjoyed the fine displays and strawberry cream teas in the garden.”
