A village pub restaurant is celebrating being named the best in Lincolnshire by the Good Pub Guide.
Husband and wife Paul and Lorraine Willoughby have run the Brownlow Arms at Hough on the Hill for 30 years and have just been named Lincolnshire’s Dining Pub of the Year 2015 by the industry ‘bible’.
Judges visited unannounced on recommendations from the public and out of all the pubs listed in the book, the village eatery was named best in the county.
Celebrating with a glass of champagne, Mr Willoughby said: “It is absolutely marvellous. It is especially good for our chefs, Ruaraidh Bealby and Lizzie Goodwin, as they do work hard.”
He felt since their head chef joined a year ago, their modern British food style has leapt forward another level and with refurbishment in January they have remained busy, while attracting younger clientele as well.
The restaurant also won a ‘local gem’ award from Waitrose last week.
Mr Willoughby said : “I feel it is the best place in Lincolnshire. We put in a lot of hard work.”
