A new activity hub has been set up for people living with dementia as well as their carers, families and friends.

A new activity hub has been set up for people living with dementia as well as their carers, families and friends.

Starting on Tuesday March 8, at St Wilfrid’s Church Hall, Church Lane, Metheringham, the activity hub is designed to offer stimulating activities for those living with dementia as well as offering the opportunity for carers to socialise and share information.

Activities will include painting, new age kurling and other interactive activities designed to be enjoyed by all. Free refreshments are also available.

Carly Togher, Health and Wellbeing Manager for leisure and culture promoter 1Life, which set up the hub, said: “The hub is designed to welcome people living with dementia and their carers.

“Friends and family are welcome to attend as it will be a useful recourse to find out more about dementia as well as offering support for one another. We have received positive comments about the hub and I’m really looking forward to them kicking off.

“We’re already looking in to setting up another hub in another part of the district.”

The first activity hub will take place from 10am to 12noon. Each session will take place on the second Tuesday of the month thereafter.

Parking is available at the Star and Garter pub on Princes Street.

Sensory Strolls are still proving to be very popular at Whisby Nature Park and are ideal for people living with dementia and their carers. Walks are designed to stimulate the senses and to enjoy the outdoors. They take place on the second Tuesday of the month at 11am. Meet outside the Natural World Centre (£2 parking charge).
