Ambulance service changes under scrutiny

YOU are invited to have your say on changes to the structure of your local ambulance service.

To find out public opinion on the proposed changes to the structure of the East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS), there will be a ‘Being the Best’ public consultation in Sleaford on Friday, where residents can find out more about the proposals and share their views.

EMAS is planning to create 131 Community Ambulance Posts and 13 state-of-the art purpose-built Hubs, as well as various stand-by points, which will replace the existing 66 ambulance stations in the East Midlands.

They will be sited according to where they will be most able to respond to calls received after EMAS held consultations and conducted data research into the best location. One of the Hubs and a Community Ambulance Post will be sited in Sleaford.

The plans have come under scrutiny from Lincolnshire County Council’s Healthy Scrutiny Committee, criticising the report’s content as inadequate and not containing anything relating to how ambulance response times will be improved, an area EMAS has previously been challenged to address.

The ‘Being the Best’ public consultation will be held on Friday at 6pm at The Source, Riverside Church on Southgate, Sleaford. People can also share their views by visiting www.emas.nhs.uk.
