A VILLAGE school has been presented with a national award praising its commitment to children’s health.

Digby primary school has earned the Healthy Schools Award certificate and plaque, commemorating dedication to its pupils’ healthy eating and general well-being.

The school has met the criteria set out by the accolade on several levels.

The healthy eating criteria ensures there is access to fresh water and fruit snacks throughout the day and the children eat the best healthy food.

The school ticks the boxes for the physical and emotional needs by having many physical activities and the Nurture Club helps to bring the more shy children out of their shell.

They have also recently received visitors from Barclays Bank educating the children about the importance of saving.

Alison Frankish, the school’s Healthy Food co-ordinator, said: “The award is an acknowledgement of everyone working on this, and it is a team effort.

“It is a great recognition that the school is working as a team and we’d like to say a big thank you to our parents for their support.”
