MACMILLAN Cancer Support’s Mobile Information Service will be stopping in Sleaford on Monday.

The mobile team of cancer specialists will be visiting sites in Lincolnshire, including Sleaford Market Place on Monday March 19 from 9am-3pm.

The team’s visit coincides with Prostate Cancer Awareness Month in March. The mobile centre has clear information on this type of cancer, which is the most common cancer among men in the UK.

Around 37,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year and 250,000 men are currently living with the disease.

The team, on board a bright green bus, welcome anyone with a question or concern about cancer, no matter how small, to step on board for a confidential chat, or just to pick up some information leaflets. No appointment is necessary and the service is completely free of charge.

Helen Tuvey, Macmillan Lead Information Support Specialist, said: “March highlights one of the most common male cancers in the UK. There’s no harm in finding out more – the centre has a wide range of information on prostate cancer and all other cancers.

“If you have any concern about cancer, do come and see us. You don’t need an appointment and you can talk to one of the Macmillan Information Specialists face-to-face. It’s free and completely confidential.”

In 2011, more than 26,000 people stepped on board the team’s two buses, which cover the North of England the East Midlands. The buses visit towns, cities, events, universities, workplaces and community venues.

For further details about future visits, visit www.macmillan.org.uk/mobile or follow us on twitter at http://twitter.com/MacInfoBuses.

If you would like cancer information and advice, but cannot visit the mobile, call the Macmillan Support Line free on 0808 8080000 (Monday to Friday, 9am – 8pm).
