A social walking scheme in North Kesteven has been nationally recognised for its work to improve people’s health.

NK Social Strollers has been officially recognised by Walking for Health, run by the Ramblers and Macmillan Cancer Support.

The national accreditation endorses the quality of experience and support that walkers can expect when taking part in one of the scheme’s 13 weekly and monthly walks.

Walking for Health is a nationwide movement dedicated to improving the nation’s health through walking and has recently improved its accreditation criteria to give new walkers added confidence that NK Social Strollers can support them to get active and stay active.

The health walks are a free answer towards keeping fit and healthy, being short and friendly, and close to where you live. By keeping walks short, new walkers and those with long term health conditions will feel more confident getting started. Walks set off locations including Billinghay, Heckington, Leasingham, Scopwick and Ruskington.

Carly Togher, coordinator for NK Social Stollers said: “Our volunteer walk leaders’ help all sorts of people to enjoy the many health benefits that regular walking brings, providing support every step of the way.”
