The Sleaford unit of St John Ambulance hosted a pampering and shopping evening at Sleaford Rugby Club on Friday and raised nearly £400 towards first aid courses in local schools.

As well as stalls giving the public a chance to enjoy a bit of pampering and buy gifts, St John Ambulance members also gave free first aid demonstrations so people could learn how to save a life using easy to follow techniques.

Demonstrations included how to administer CPR and what to do when a baby is choking, and visitors could also have a go at simple-to-learn techniques. As well as a variety of stalls selling handbags, clothing and cakes, there was nail art and complimentary therapies.

Sleaford unit manager Nikki Bush said: “Thank you to all of the therapists, stall holders and members of the public that came along and supported us.”
