A volunteer who stood in her charity shop window for two days has raised over £1,300.

Sue Pitts, 51, last month got into the spirit of the Stand Up For Cancer awareness event organised by Cancer Research UK and Chamnnel Four by offering to stand in the window of the Cancer Research UK shop where she helps out throughout its opening hours over two days.

From 9am-5pm on the Friday and Saturday October 17-18 Sue’s only respite was toilet breaks, having to eat and drink standing up, while also wearing a colourful wig and tutu.

Sue thanked everyone for their support saying: “It went really well and I enjoyed it. It was hard work the second day but well worth it.”

The £1,303.50 will go towards the £16m raised nationally. Sue presented the money to shop manager Margery Johnson last week. Mrs Johnson commented: “Sue is a very determined and motivated lady and a great ambassador for the shop.”
