Council moves in bid to lower speed limit
EDITOR – I am very pleased to confirm, after lobbying for some time now to improve road safety on the B1188 between Ruskington and Branston, Lincolnshire County Council has started the consultation process on reducing the speed limit on the road to 50mph.
This is a very busy stretch of road and hasn’t had the best accident record in recent years, and it is the only Red Route that has not had safety measures in place in terms of a reduced speed limit.
I have been working with our highways officers on this and the consultation process on reducing the speed limit on this stretch of road down to 50mph.
Since safety improvements were made on the A607, we have seen serious accidents drop by a quarter, helping to save lives and prevent serious injuries.
Reducing the speed limit on the B1188 will improve safety further.
I would ask you to add your voice and support us in our efforts to make the roads safe for residents and other road users.
The consultation closes on 22 June and I would ask you to write to me at cllrp.bradwell@lincolnshire.gov.uk
