Impatience of morons on road

EDITOR – The B1394 road is closed to traffic, to allow essential maintenance work to be carried out on the main road bridge at South Kyme.

This involves a highly-expensive new waterproof membrane.

The membrane has been laid and the tell-tale coat on top.

The various routes have been signed for diversions.

The bridge is barriered and coned off to prevent vehicle use until the job is finished.

But on Sunday, at about 9.45am, an old, red LDV van came along and the driver in a blue checked shirt got out, moved the barriers and drove across, over trenches at either end as well.

I was too late to redirect this moron.

When I looked at the surface and the tyre marks, I discovered another vehicle and a motorcycle had also driven across earlier.

I replaced all the barriers, being a good citizen.

Sunday evening, about teatime, a motorcycle was spotted weaving through and across the works.

What a pity these imbeciles didn’t get stuck until Monday, when the contractors resumed work.

I am sure they would have been re-educated.
