Regarding the public meeting last Wednesday in Sleaford. Only Sleaford Town Council could allow a serious meeting about the future of our town to descend into a classic pantomime! Hissing and booing while people tried to speak, really? All our favourite characters were there.
Once people were allowed to speak though, some great points were made on both sides of the argument, as it should be, but the bad behaviour of the “more mature” members of the assembled audience against the road and Tesco tainted the debate, and did little for their cause – let alone set a good example to the younger attendees, who are more likely to be disenfranchised from local politics in the first place. I certainly know who the heroes and villains were in my mind that night! Sleaford’s future? – “It’s behind you!!! Boooo!!!”
The next time STC hold a public meeting, at least we’ll be more prepared with big foam hands and light sticks! Oh yes we will, Oh no we won’t!
