Thank you Sleaford for forces day

EDITOR - Thank you to everyone who turned out to greet the first Armed Forces Day Parade as it marched through our town on Sunday.

It was a privilege to watch past, present and future members of the armed services parading behind the RAF regiment band.

The fly past and the flag waving contributed to a great atmosphere and we know that members of the parade appreciated the support shown to them by Sleaford. Thanks to everyone involved in organising the event and I hope it will be the first of many subsequent parades to honour the contribution of our armed services. Thank you Sleaford!

My wife and I would also like to congratulate Sleaford in Bloom and all the people who opened their gardens as part of the Sleaford in Bloom event this weekend.

We visited half of the gardens and the Deputy Mayor and Mayoress also visited half.

We were welcomed by everyone and treated to a variety of amazing gardens and a wonderful display of colour and creativity.

It was pleasing to see many gardens well attended by families, neighbours and the public and, of course, the weather contributed to make it a very pleasant weekend.

Well done to the Sleaford in Bloom committee and to everyone who opened their gardens. Thank you for your hospitality.

GORDON BLYTHE

Mayor of Sleaford
