Using elderly and disabled as stick to beat the rest of us
EDITOR - It would seem that Russ Mathieson, with his comments on the proposed footbridge over the railway at Sleaford station, has well and truly shot himself in the foot.
In effect, he is saying that there is no footbridge that would be suitable for use by wheelchair users or less mobile pedestrians. What utter nonsense!
What I find so dishonest is that these spurious objections are being made, not because the people making them are concerned about the footbridge users’ so called ‘difficulties’, but because they object to the proposed new road bridge and supermarket.
And in desperation, they are creating problems and using the elderly and disabled as a stick with which to beat the rest of us. It really is pathetic.
On the subject of supermarkets, as there’s not one decent one in Sleaford, this is needed urgently.
I know of Sleaford residents who are so fed up with the lack of choice and items constantly running out, that they have to go to Grantham, Newark or Lincoln to do their shopping.
Whether it’s Tesco, Morrisons, Asda or Sainsbury, it’s got to be better than the existing Sainsbury and Tesco.
And incidentally Ken Fernandes (letters page), it would not be another Tesco but a replacement for the one we have at present.
