Sarah Brownhill is a community nurse for the Sleaford Community Nursing Team at Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust.

For her, Christmas Day will see her visiting patients across the Sleaford area as part of the Sleaford Community Nursing Team.

The team is responsible for providing planned nursing care to patients in their own homes and providing support to the most vulnerable members of the community 365 days a year.

Sarah said: “My day will start off with patients who need insulin injections and might also include dressing wounds or picking up any emergency visits while I’m on call.”

For some, Sarah will be the only person they see that day. She said: “When people are on their own, it can put things into perspective. It’s not just about nursing, you might also make them a cup of tea. We provide a lifeline to many people and I would worry about them if we were not able to go. Their courage keeps me going every day,”
