Lincolnshire summer scheme receives record number of sign-ups

More than 3,000 young people across the East Midlands – including 1,100 in Lincolnshire - have signed up to the summer NCS programme already, making it the quickest uptake of the programme on record in the region.

Phil Everett, from EM1 - the regional NCS provider - said: “NCS is a fantastic way for young people to make the most of their extended summer break after GCSEs and not only change their summer for the better but make new friends, experience new challenges and show friends and family the amazing things they are capable of!”

NCS is a unique four week programme open to all 16 and 17-year-olds in Lincolnshire and is focused around fun and discovery with participants spending time away from home, learning skills for life and volunteering at least 30 hours to a community project they create, to address an issue which is important to them.

The government-backed scheme costs no more than £50, which covers the entire experience from food and accommodation to activities and travel, with bursaries available on a case by case basis.

Mr Everett continued: “NCS is fully accessible for all abilities and is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for 16 and 17-year-olds.

“Summer programme spots are filling up fast, so I would urge anyone interested in changing their summer from same old, same old, to something amazing to sign up straight away and have something to look forward to after exams are finished.”
