Award for Fairtrade champion
A SECONDARY school pupil has won the regional Ranstad Good Citizen Award.
Thirteen-year-old Philip Ingram-Jannetta of St George's Academy in Sleaford received the award in recognition of his work in promoting the ideals of Fairtrade locally.
Bob Stoner of St George's said: "Philip is an instrumental factor in the success of publicizing Fairtrade within and outside of the acadmey.
"He manages the pupils and the display and deals with the customers. He has promoted the ideals of Fairtrade at a major Fairtrade conference in Leeds last year and has shown his enthusiasm when running the Farmers' Market stall in Sleaford.
"His best achievement has been to be a member of the town's Fairtrade steering group committee. This is a 13 year old pupil on a town committee, giving his viewpoint and helping to make decisions as Sleaford hopes to become a Fairtrade town this month."
Phillip received his award at the Year Nine assembly last Wednesday. It was the first of two awards, as he and 10 other pupils from St George's received a Certificate of Excellence from the Diana Award Trust at Lincoln Cathedral on Friday.
