Best kept finals

JUST two Sleaford area villages remain in the running for awards in the final round of the Lincolnshire Best Kept Village and Small Market Town competition.

The final round of judging is about to get underway after more than 120 entrants have been reduced down to three finalists in four categories following two earlier rounds in July and August.

During September the judging of the Past Winners section will also take place. Among the eight former winners in this category are South Kyme and Coleby. The results will be announced in October.

Teresa Palmer, competition organiser for Sleaford-based Community Lincs, said: “The Past Winners category has only one round, in September, but this really is the best of the best of the smaller and medium sized villages in Lincolnshire.”

To help celebrate this year’s 50th anniversary of the competition, there is an additional category sponsored by the Federation of Small Businesses for finalists in larger communities who have gained the involvement of shops. The winners will receive £200 to spend on floral displays.
