BREAKING NEWS - FIRE DESTROYS STRAW STACK

HUNDREDS of straw bales and a tree have been destroyed after a fire last night (Wednesday).

Emergency services were called to the A15 at Temple Bruer at 11:42pm where a stack of 300 large bales of straw were on fire in a field just off the road.

The fire had also spread to a nearby tree and the A15 and the nearby side road had to be closed due to sparks and smoke. Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue have confirmed that the fire was started deliberately.

The A15 road was re-opened at around 7.20am today after the fire was brought under control.

The side road was re-opened at around 9am and the damaged tree had to be felled due to its dangerous condition.

Now Lincolnshire Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen any suspicious persons or vehicles at the scene prior to the blaze to contact them on 101, quoting incident number 531 of September 26.
