Burglar ransacks pensioner's home
AN 81-year old woman had to endure the trauma of waking up to find an intruder in her bedroom.
Police are appealing for information after the elderly woman's home was burgled by the man she found standing next to her bed.
The incident happened at around midnight on Saturday in Chapel Lane, Leasingham.
The woman woke to see the man stood just feet away from her. He was described as white, about 5ft 9in tall and wearing dark clothing.
He also had some white material, believed to be a scarf, covering his face.
The burglar ransacked the pensioner's house and stole a substantial amount of cash from a safe. The amount of money taken has not yet been calculated.
The offender also took cash cards and demanded the PIN numbers from the woman. These cards were then used to withdraw cash from two ATMs in High Street, Ruskington at around 12.32am and 12.36am on Sunday morning.
The victim was very shaken by the incident but was not harmed.
DC Phil Richardson of Lincolnshire Police said: "This was a terrifying ordeal for a vulnerable member of the community.
"We really need people to come forward and provide us with information on any suspicious activity they may have seen in the Chapel Lane area of the village.
"We also need people who were in Ruskington and may have been near the cash machines and seen a man fitting this description to get in touch with us as soon as possible."
