Cadets celebrate after being named best in the UK

AIR cadets in Sleaford are celebrating after being confirmed as the best unit in the country.

The 2160 Sleaford Squadron has become the top Air Cadet unit out of more than one thousand Air Training Corps Squadrons in the UK and overseas.

Commandant Air Cadets, Air Commodore Cooper, announced Slaford as winners of this year’s Lees/Morris Trophy.

Cadet Sgt Sam Beresford, who had the honour of escorting the Commandant Air Cadets throughout the evening of the Sleaford unit’s final inspection for the award, said: “Every one of us has worked to our maximum potential over the last few years and we were determined the final parade and inspection would be something special.”

Officer commanding the Sleaford unit, Flt Lt Mel Walker, said: “I am thrilled for everyone at 2160 that we have been honoured with this award.”
