Cadets from RAF College Cranwell, recently ventured to Chambers Farm, between Bardney and Wragby in Lincolnshire, to cut down trees and open up woodland.
The cadets from Non-Commissioned Aircrew Initial Training Course (NCA ITC) 257, cleared large areas of the 900 acre Forestry Commission wood to assist with the conservation of the Brown Hairstreak Butterfly.
A spokesman said the cadets headed straight for the larger targets and started felling trees up to 25ft high - adding that the sense of satisfaction was clearly audible with cries of ‘timber!’ echoing throughout the woods.
The park warden thanked the cadets for their efforts and said the work they had completed over the two days. would have been a whole winter project for his own small team of volunteers.
