Church organist awarded for her dedicated service

Long service award to Marjorie Simmance at Helpringham Church.

A long serving church organist was presented with a certificate of special service in recognition of her many years serving Helpringham Parish Church.

Marjorie Simmance is to receive a long service award on behalf of the Royal Schools of Church Music later in the year but in a service last week at St Andrew’s Church vicar of the Heckington and Helpringham group of churches, Rev Chris Harrington also gave a certificate in recognition of her dedication to the group.

Now in her ’90s, she has been playing the organ and coaching the choir all her life and the award is for outstanding contribution to church music in the Lafford Deanery.
