Council annoyed by bus route change

TOWN councillors are concerned at alterations to a bus route which could endanger residents and motorists.

Sleaford Town Council had previously agreed to siting a replacement bus shelter on Lincoln Road at Holdingham opposite Stokes Drive, relocated because of the new affordable housing estate being built next to McDonald’s.

The county council has now opted to revise the location following a change to the Into Town bus route, which now turns around at the estate. The shelter, at the developer’s expense, would be sited opposite.

Town councillors saw this as a dangerous maneouvre. Coun John Charlesworth said: “They need a bus shelter there but I am very concerned about buses backing into a housing estate.”

The council agreed to maintain the shelter but called for a meeting with highways officials about safety.
