Diesel spillage causes road chaos
AN ACCIDENT involving a Mondeo and a lorry caused diesel to spill all over the road on the A17 near Sleaford on Thursday evening, causing massive chaos for local drivers.
The accident occurred at East Heckington when a Ford Mondeo collided with a lorry coming from Spalding creating a hole in the lorry, which leaked an estimated 800 litres of fuel over the carrigeway.
No-one was hurt in the accident.
The fuel damaged the tarmac making it slippery and unsafe, especially for motorcyclists, so the police closed the road.
It was not re-open again until Friday afternoon.
The official diversion for the accident was via Bicker Bar roundabout, then south west along the A52 through Osbournby roundabout, north along the A15 to Holdingham roundabout then east bound to Boston.
Dick Holmes, spokesman for Lincolnshire Police, said the roads in and around the area had been chaotic, with long delays for traffic.
