Exciting plans for village windmill in the pipelines
ANNUAL MEETING - The annual parish meeting was held at Heckington Community Centre last Monday when chairman of the parish council Richard Higgs gave his annual report to the village.
The year began in May 2011 with the renovation of the community centre and parish chambers.
Mr Higgs said: “Every day this project saw new challenges but these were tackled full on with enthusiasm by those councillors who pitched in and devoted so much of their time to ensure the project remained on target.”
During the year the council welcomed two new members - Liz Peto and Ian Sydney - and new clerk Angela Edwards. The parish also said goodbye to two former clerks - Carolyn Kildea and Eddie Findley. Mrs Kildea had to leave when her husband was posted abroad and Mr Findley found full-time employment elsewhere.
The chairman and manager of the Friends of Heckington Windmill also gave a presentation to explain the future plans for an application for Lottery funding to enhance the mill site as a visitor attraction. They are also getting funding from the district and county councils.
