Farmshop and holiday home owners highly commended in county awards.
TWO food and hospitality outlets from the Sleaford area were highly commended in the county’s annual Select Lincolnshire and Tastes of Lincolnshire Food and Drink Awards.
The brand new DoubleTree by Hilton on Lincoln’s Brayford Wharf was the glamorous setting for the Food and Drink Awards where the ‘who’s who’ of the Lincolnshire food scene gathered to celebrate this year’s winning food producers and establishments.
Tastes Of Lincolnshire - Grower
Abbey Parks Farmshop of East Heckington was Highly Commended in the Grower category, while Fulbeck Gardens Cottage was Highly Commended in the Self Catering category.
The guests dined on Lioncolnshire produce before listening to speaker Tim Nicol from BBC One’s Village SOS.
The awards followed, and winning hotels, restaurants, and food producers took to the stage to collect their accolades.
Mary Powell, from the Tastes of Lincolnshire and Select Lincolnshire project, said: “We are delighted with the awards. This was the first year that the annual Tastes of Lincolnshire Awards have been presented with the brand new Select Lincolnshire categories. The two brands are working in partnership to give Lincolnshire’s award winning producers and eating establishments a collective stronger voice.
“This year we added three new categories to the awards for Select Lincolnshire members. These were Producer of the year, Grower of the year and The Lincolnshire Co-operative People’s Choice Award. They joined the existing 11 award categories for Tastes of Lincolnshire members, which run every year in association with Lincolnshire Life magazine.”
It was a full house with over 170 local producers and food establishments attending.
A panel of judges, including industry experts and mystery shoppers, had the difficult job of selecting the winners, strengthening the county’s reputation as the ’top food spot’ in the UK and recognise the outstanding work of the Lincolnshire food industry.
Tastes of Lincolnshire is a successful scheme set up by Lincolnshire County Council, with an emphasis on the importance of locally sourced and produced food and drink. For the freshest, finest local produce look out for the Tastes of Lincolnshire logo at shops, places to eat and accommodation within the county
Select Lincolnshire is the sister project to Tastes of Lincolnshire. The brand aims to showcase the range and quality of Lincolnshire produce.
The brands are now working together in partnership.
