Flooding hits Sleaford villages

Heavy rain and strong winds battered Lincolnshire over the weekend as flood warnings were alerted all over the county.

Fire crews had to rescue a two people on Mareham Lane, Beacon Hill in Billingborough after their car became stuck in two feet of water.

A fire team from Billingborough and water rescue teams from Boston and Bourne attended and used a winch to rescue the people from the car.

After severe flooding affected the village in July, Swaton’s flood wardens worked night and day over the weekend to prepare the residents for any flooding after the Swaton Eau water levels raised two metres over Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Luckily the water level peaked one foot off the potential flooding limit and the water has been receding ever since.

The A15 was also closed between Osbournby and Folkingham due to excess surface water and damaged power lines.

Amber flood warnings are currently still in place for North Kesteven around the River Slea, South Forty Foot Drain and the Billinghay Skirth.
