Four-year-old Freddie Howe, from Ewerby Thorpe has won some cracking Britains Farm Toys in the NFU’s annual Let’s Talk Farming contest.

Son of local farmers Will and Victoria Howe, Freddie is a budding agriculturalist and his skills in matching farm products to food in the competition’s ‘farm chain challenge’ for 4–7 year olds has won him the first prize in the regional competition.

Victoria runs The Farm Kitchen from the family farm, supplying over 100 Lincolnshire and Rutland schools and nurseries with their school dinners.

She said: “Freddie is definitely going to be a farmer when he grows up. He’s fascinated by all the machinery and especially the tractors we have on the farm. The toys will add to his collection, too.”

NFU’s county chairman Chris Godson, from Asgarby, and NFU regional communications adviser Alison Pratt, dressed
as Mother Christmas,
dropped by to deliver the hoard.

The competition ran throughout the summer with entries pouring in from Open Farm Sunday events, local shows and the NFU Farming Delivers website.
