A VILLAGE centre will have colourful floral displays each year thanks to a local garden centre.

Ruskington Garden Centre has offered to plant out the new wooden planters in the village in perpetuity. It is an offer which Ruskington Parish Council has been delighted to accept.

Nine planters were installed alongside the village beck earlier this summer in time for the Ruskington Celebration Day and Jubilee celebrations on June 2. For that occasion, the garden centre planted them out in red, white and blue for the Jubilee.

Now the garden centre has agreed to change the displays in the planters each year.

Parish council clerk Nev Codd said: “We very much welcome the offer from Ruskington Garden Centre and are delighted with their involvement.

“The planters have added a significant floral display in the centre of the village and we have had nothing but compliments from people since they were installed.”

Five of the planters were sponsored, two by Ruskington WI and one each by Sleaford and District Lions, Ruskington Evergreen Club and the Rotary Club of Sleaford Kesteven.
