A TALENTED art student has created a winning design, beating off competition from all over the country.
Fifteen year old Grace Dowsey, of Ashby de la Laude, has won a national Arts Awards merchandise design competition which called on youngsters to make a design for a new t-shirt, tote bag, back pack or travel card holder.
Grace, who attends Sir William Robertson High School in Welbourn, was one of four winners from around the country after thousands of schools entered pupils into the competition.
Each youngster had to come up with a new design for the above items, and Grace’s initial design for a new t-shirt was adapted for use on a tote bag.
She said: “It feels really good to have won the competition and I am really pleased, I was speechless when I found out I’d won.
“I think that some of my friends and family will be buying the bag.”
Grace’s design and the other winning items are on sale online at www.artsawards.org.uk
