Greeting guests from Sleaford's twinning towns

Guests from Fredersdorf-Vogelsdorf and Marquette Les Lille travelled to Sleaford at the end of last month.

Upon arrival, Mayor of Sleaford David Suiter greeted guests at Sleaford Town Hall with a welcoming speech.

The following day, visitors travelled to the Old Workhouse at Southwell, and Southwell Minster where a concert was thrown in their honour.

Guests and hosts then had a day picking their own activities. Some went to Heckington Show, while others travelled to Lincoln Castle, Sherwood Forest, Boston Stump and Stamford. That evening a traditional English dinner was served at the New Life Centre in Sleaford, followed by speeches from respective mayors.

A Sleaford and District Twinning Association spokesman said: “The weekend was a complete success with many friendships strengthened and new ones made. The Sleaford Twinners now look forward to their visit to Fredersdorf-Vogelsdorf at the end of the month.”

Visits are open to anyone in the area, regardless of age or linguistic ability.
