History group hosts lecture on view of county’s churches

Sleaford History Group will be holding its next guest lecture on Thursday October 18.

Richard Shaw will be speaking on A view of some Lincolnshire churches at St Denys’ Church Room, Sleaford, starting at 7.30pm.

* Mrs Smith’s Cottage museum in Navenby will be the venue for the start of a ghost walk later this month.

The ghost walk around Navenby will take one hour and begin at the cottage at 6pm and 7.30pm on Friday October 26. Entry is £2, children £1, booking advisable.

This is followed on Wednesday October 31 by a halloween event at the museum office at 4 North Lane, Navenby. Make your costume and get your face painted, from 1pm-3pm. Admission is £3 per child.

* An exhibition of photographs selected from entries for
the 2012 Junior Sports Programme Photographic Competition are being shown in an exhibition at the Carre Gallery, Sleaford, until October 27

Judging will take place at the end of the exhibition with awards for the best entry and also for ‘The People’s Choice’ selected by visitors to Carre Gallery.

A collection of classic motor sport photographs taken by the teenager Michael Aspinall are also on display. He went on to take part in classic saloon and sports car racing. Proceeds from the sale of these prints will be donated to the Junior Sports Programme.

Barry Bland is an international renowned endangered species photographer whose work is also on show in support of fund-raising for The Rare Species Fund and proceeds from the sale of these prints will be donated to the Junior Sports Programme.
