A PINK themed event raised well over £2,000 for cancer charities.

Friends Kate Hopkins, Ruth Hodge, Helen Worrall, Alison Hall and Karen Beddoes organised a Pink Party at Sleaford’s Rugby Club on Saturday night to raise money for The Bobby Moore Fund and Jo’s Cervical Cancer.

All of the 160 people who attended the event were wearing some form of pink clothing, with some people getting in on the act by wearing fancy dress, including a few revellers wearing Pink Ladies and T-Birds outfits.

A large portion of the money raised on the night came from a raffle, with 45 prizes donated by local businesses. The prizes included a Pandora bracelet and Breast Cancer charm from Moore and Scrupps, a 45 minute micro-lite experience and a day at the Grange Spa in Pointon worth £150.

There was live music from local band Drum Rock Cafe and a Head and Tails game with the chance to win tickets to see comedian John Bishop in October, donated by the man himself.

Overall, the event raised over £2,252, which will be divided between the two charities.

Kate Hopkins said: “The event went brilliantly and everyone made a fantastic effort. We are chuffed with how much we managed to raise.

“We’d like to say a big thank you to Sleaford Rugby Club for letting us hold the event there free of charge and to everyone who came.”
