A RUSKINGTON woman is preparing to travel half way round the world to take on a challenge for charity.
Judith Fryer, 45, is taking on the Women vs Cancer Cycling Challenge in India, which involves a gruelling 200 mile of cycling over five days in November raising money for women’s cancer charities.
She decided to take up the challenge, she said, in a spur of the moment one Saturday morning after reading about it in a magazine and after a friend had completed a trek in Nepal. Judith decided that if ‘she can do it, I can do it’.
The event will be raising money for three women’s cancer charities; Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust, Breast Cancer Care and the Ovarian Cancer Trust. Judith has chosen to take part as she has worked in cancer services at Lincoln County Hospital.
She said: “I’ve been training hard and so far it’s not going too badly, I’ve been going to the gym two or three times a week and I must say a huge thanks to my personal trainer Lee Drury who has been a really big help in helping me prepare.”
Judith will be jetting from London to Delhi on November 9 and the trek starts on November 12.
The ladies will be cycling between 40km to 87km a day, finishing on November 17 and then heading back to the UK two days later.
Judith is hoping to raise over £2,800 for Women vs Cancer and is well on her way to hitting the target.
