Join Rotary in the pool for charity swim
LATER this month many local people will be diving into the pool at Sleaford Leisure Centre to support a major charity event.
The Charity Swimathon, organised annually by the Rotary Club of Sleaford, is taking place at Sleaford Leisure Centre on Friday, February 24, from 7pm to 10pm, and Saturday, February 25, from 8am to 6pm.
Proceeds from the event will be distributed to recognised Rotary Club charities, including Sleaford LIVES, the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance and, this year, The Alzheimer’s Society.
This year there is also the opportunity for participants to enter the ‘Rotary Global Swimathon’, which is an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the highest number of swimmers swimming 100 metres non stop between the hours of 12noon and 1pm (GMT) on the Saturday.
Rotary Clubs throughout the world will be taking part in the record attempt, which will be run in accordance with the rules laid down by the Guinness Book of Records.
A donation will be made by the Rotary Club of Sleaford to the ‘End Polio Now’ campaign.
If you would like to take part in the Swimathon or enter a team, application and entry forms can be obtained from Rotarian Paula Ireland on 01529 488409.
