Lafford High School, Billinghay, GCSE results

IT was a more sombre affair on GCSE day over at the Lafford School, as the Year 11 pupils would be the last pupils receiving their results now that the school has closed.

Nevertheless, the school showed some impressive results, with 47 per cent of students achieving five or more A* to C grades, and 97 per cent achieving five or more A* to G grades.

High flyers at the Lafford include Amy Ritter-Davies who achieved 14 GCSEs at Grade C and above including three A's. Luke Brown achieved 11 Grade C or above and Loretta Laverty got 10 Grade C or above, including three A's and two A*s.

Nicola Irvine, acting headteacher of Lafford School, said: "These are very pleasing results in the light of a traumatic year and testament to the hard work of students and staff."
