JUST over one month into his mountainous challenge, a Sleaford mountaineer is one camp away from reaching the tip of the world’s highest mountain.

Matthew Dieumegard-Thornton has successfully reached Camp Three on Mount Everest, and is hopefully mere weeks away from reaching the summit.

He updated his blog yesterday (Monday) during a well-earned rest to confirm to all his supporters that the team reached Camp Three, at 7,200ft, and their acclimatisation is now complete.

They have now safely returned to Base Camp and are waiting for a spell of good weather to push on up to the summit.

Matthew and his team are currently at Base Camp for some rest and relaxation and are testing out their oxygen systems, and hopefully will be attempting to reach the summit as soon as the weather clears, setting off in around 10 to 14 days.

He said on his blog that he has been waiting a long time for what will be a very proud moment as his flag waves on top of the world, bearing the Yell.com name as his main sponsors.
