Military and ex-military personnel have been making sure they look their best for a charity calendar soon to be in the shops in aid of a forces charity.

The calendar shoot was the brainchild of Dale Jacques, a physical training instructor based at RAF Digby (Joint Service Signals Organisation).

It is to raise money for the British Limbless Ex-Service Men’s Association which helped support one of Dale’s colleagues, James Marsh, in his recovery when he was the victim of an IED explosion in Afghanistan two years ago.

Dale said: “He is now with my unit and I wanted to do something for an organisation that had already helped someone on the team. He agreed to be a model and we went from there.”

Dale and most of the 10 men involved are from the Army or RAF, based at Digby and Waddington. None have done any modelling before but Dale said they all volunteered.

He said: “We were all quite apprehensive about what to expect. I have been involved in photo shoots before but only as an advisor. It is a fitness calendar so we were just topless with combat trousers on. Most of the guys work out with me and everyone is happy with how it turned out.”

The photo shoot was done at their local Harpers Gym on East Road, Sleaford, by kind permission of Leisure Connection, with the help of David Connor of Sleaford Photography Club.

Dale said it was a bit of fun too: “It’s not often you get involved in a topless calendar. Hopefully, if it is a success, we will do it again next year and involve all three services.”

The calendar is being put together and designed by Danny Clayton, another of the 10 ‘models’ and should be ready for sale for January for no more than £5. It will be on sale in various local shops and via Dale’s sports supplement company website: www.opmassive.com
