Mini Olympics will follow torch arrival

FOLLOWING the Olympic torch passing through Sleaford, the Laffletics club, sponsored by Sleaford and District Lioness Club ,are hosting a mini Olympic day at the Northgate Sports Hall on Saturday, June 30, from 10am to 1pm.

Lincolnshire Co-operative Society have donated £40.00 towards refreshments and 96 bottles of water for the event.

The day is being held to celebrate the Olympics and give young people the opportunity to try out some new sporting activities.

The Laffletics Club are inviting schools, clubs and youth groups to participate, by entering either one or two teams.

These may be mixed teams of all ages and abilities, with each team made up of six members.

Lunch will be provided by the Sleaford Lionesses and there will be medals and certificates to be won.

The activities will be indoor sports, including running, kurling, boccia, speed bounce and others to be announced.

The day is free of charge but places are limited.

The club’s coach Paul McCarthy, who is an official torch bearer, will open the day and the torch will be available for photographs.
