Planners give go ahead for £1.5 million project

IT is all systems go for a £1.5 million project to redevelop a run down yard to become a new town centre retail area.

After ten months planners have just given the go ahead to a scheme to build on the old car park behind the Victoria pub and United Reformed Church off Southgate.

Sleaford-based Hanbeck Properties bought the site which had become a dumping ground and will demolish derelict garages backing up to the Somerfield store to make way for a mixed use development of shops, flats and offices.

The development will be in three main blocks with six shops on the ground floor with an office suite and 11 rented apartments above, construction could start by April or May to be completed by Easter 2006.
